Samantha Bennett put Dean Malloy out of her mind five years ago, when he broke her heart after a summer fling. But now he’s back in her life, and ready to steal a heritage protection contract that could make or break her career–if he doesn’t steal her heart first. Samantha’s vowed to hate him, but it’s more than anger heating the competition between them.
With sparks flying across the conference table and sizzling in every touch, Dean proposes a weekend liaison. Anything to have Sam again; anything to get her out of his system. But the unresolved feelings between them complicate both their personal and professional lives, and one wild weekend could turn into a disaster that would destroy the one job that means more to Samantha than anything. For a shot at love…is it worth the risk?
You can read the first two chapters of Worth the Risk here on Entangled Publishing’s website.
Welcome to The PBD Robin!!!
Thanks so much for having me on Passionate Book Divas! I’m delighted to be here!
I absolutely LOVED Worth the Risk so I am really excited to host today and I have to go with my Fab 5 Questions (The ones I HAVE to ask my favs)!
Q1. 2 parts – Did you always want to be a writer? And what inspired you to write?
I didn’t always want to be a writer, even though I’ve always loved to write. I think I thought of writing more as a hobby, than a career. But after college and working as a writer for a local production company and then turning to freelance writing when I had my kids, I realized writing was much more than a hobby. It was my passion!
Looking back, I think what inspired me to write was my love of Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, and the movies. Before I wrote my first book, I actually tried my hand at screenwriting. Finally, (I’m a total late bloomer) I figured out I wanted to write romantic fiction and I’m loving every minute of it!
Q2. I have heard a lot of authors describe their creative process as almost schizophrenic, that the characters speak to them… Is that true with you? If not could you please share some of your process?
My characters totally speak to me! And when they do, I tend to tune everything else out. Which is really bad if I’m in the middle of a conversation with someone. (Sorry, all you someones!) My stories always start with character and the only notes I take before sitting down to write are in regards to my characters. So when they talk, I listen! The rest of my creative process is by the seat of my pants.
Q3. Tell me something fun or funny about yourself.
Hmm…something fun or funny…well, being that I live in a household of guys (even my dog is male), it’s never a dull moment. A few months ago we were involved in a heated Nerf gun war, running around the house like lunatics, and my youngest actually shot me right in the forehead (yeah, I’m stealthy) and the dart stuck. So there I was, with a dart suctioned to my forehead and my hubby and sons laughing hysterically. It only took a second for me to join in on the laughter, though. It was pretty darn funny.
Wow that is outstanding!!! I am just like you by the way… well no… I do have a female dog. Could have really gone for a bitch joke but I just couldn’t think of one… hmmmm… I’m Slippin’
Q4. Are any of the characters in Worth the Risk based on yourself or people you know?
My characters aren’t based on anyone I know, but I’d like to think that Dean and Samantha have qualities we can all relate to and admire. Dean is loyal, protective and approachable. He’s an outdoor junkie and passionate about his work. Sam is smart and competent, but vulnerable with the same uncertainties we all have. She’s a bit of a klutz, too, which I am. But lots of us are klutz’s, right?
erm….. no comment?
Q5. Who would you cast as Samantha Bennett and Dean Malloy if it were made into a movie?
Wouldn’t that be cool! I’d cast Paul Walker as Dean (I love him!) and either Alyson Michalka or Blake Lively as Sam.
OHHHHH PAUL!!!!! We heart Paul and I totally agree 100% he is exactly what I pictured when I read it! *Sigh*
Wow Totally spaced out there didn’t ya? Me too! *big grin*
Now I know Robin said something about a giveaway but let me give you all her info so you can properly stalk her.
Robin Bielman lives in Southern California, a bike ride away from the ocean if she’s feeling really adventurous. She loves books and baking and running on the treadmill while watching her favorite TV shows. When she’s not reading or writing her next story, she’s spending time with her high school sweetheart husband and two sons, most likely watching, playing, or discussing baseball. She drives too fast, drinks too much caffeine, and if every day were Cupcake Day, she’d be a happy camper! She loves to connect with readers. You can find her online here:
Thanks again for having me, Nicole! I’d love to give away an eBook copy of Worth the Risk to one of your readers. Leave me a comment and you’re entered!
